Mindfulness meditation is a practice of simply paying attention to the present moment experience by placing our focus in a particular way---without judgement, with curiosity, and with gentle awareness. Most of the time our attention is not where we want it to be, and our perspective of our lived experience is often limited by judgements and biases that is unproductive for living a full and healthy life. Practicing mindfulness meditation trains our attention so that we can choose where we want to place our attention and polishes our perspective so that we can decide how we relate to life’s experiences. Just as physical training is necessary for the health of our bodies, training our brains is essential for the health of our minds and mindfulness meditation is a form of self-care that can benefit our health and our quality of life.

As a certified mindfulness meditation instructor and a long-time daily practitioner, Dr. Farrell provides medical practitioners with a course that introduces the fundamentals of mindfulness meditation and includes practice of different types of meditation techniques throughout the course.
